Hide Tom Turkey Freebie

Hide Tom Turkey is a fun homework assignment to use during Thanksgiving time. Students are given a cut-out turkey. They take the cut-out turkey home to disguise from the Thanksgiving dinner table. Students dress the turkey in a costume and then write about it's disguise. Students use scraps of material, buttons, paper, ribbon, etc. to dress the turkey in a costume. Students also have a writing assignment to describe the disguise. There are also 2 letters to send home depending on the grade level you teach. Also included are 2 writing papers to complete the writing assignment.

The students think of some unique costumes to dress their turkey. Some have disguised the turkey as Justin Bieber, Elvis, Cinderella, a scarecrow, Santa Clause, and Harry Potter. I have always been amazed at the creativity the students bring to this assignment. When all turkeys come back in their disguise or costume, I always hang them out in the hallway with their writing assignment next to it.
